On the 22nd and 23rd of February 2024, it was held the first in-person meeting of the ACTIVATOR project (project number: 2023-1-PT01-KA220-ADU-000126237). ACTIVATOR is project co-funded by the European Union, which main objective is to enhance older citizens’ (60+) engagement in Citizen Science initiatives to empower them to activate social changes in their local neighborhoods and communities in collaboration with relevant community organisations and academic partners.
ACTIVATOR will develop a training path in the form of e-learning for the staff of adult organisations on how to educate about and engage senior citizens in Citizen Science.
The first meeting was hosted by the project coordinators: the Torres Novas Municipality. The consortium is also formed by partners from different countries: CEIPES ETS (Italy), CETEM (Spain), ILI (Germany) and UNIPA (Italy).
This meeting was a very important starting point for the consortium, as it allowed them to agree on the project management method and project activities. They had the opportunity of doing a brainstorming about the main topics that may be of greater interest to older adults related to the world of science.
As an initial step, partners should carry out research on good practices in their countries, and thus have a basis on which to develop the project’s learning materials.
